Paper Pumpkin - Halloween or not?

This month's Paper Pumpkin has a Halloween theme. There are enough supplies for 20 little treat boxes - all set for trick-or-treaters, classmates, grandkids or just for fun! In my world I have few goblins coming to the door & grown up kids & g'kids so I was happy to use the extra supplies for fun cards. Even though the g'kids are teens they seem to enjoy Nana's card making obsession - er, hobby. My daughter on the other hand is a teacher so she was thrilled to make up the boxes for her class.

There were tons of supplies & as usual the instructions come with a list of the coordinating colours so with a few sheets of Gorgeous Grape & Pumpkin Pie cadstock, some twine & stamps from previous kits, we went to town creating some fun cards.

Some black on black embossing created a spooky background along with the skull stamp stamped on purple cardstock from my stash.

We even came up with a non-Halloween card for those who don't mark this spooky occasion. The cat punch was used for our wee feline who is holding a bouquet of balloons cut from the balloon punch. Some Grapefruit Grove foil from my retired stash (you could use copper too) adds the "happy" touch.

Here's one last card CASE'd from Melissa Davies on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club Facebook page. I loved her multi-coloured skeletons. They were perfect for my youngest brother's birthday card.

Welcome (H)ome

I seem to have a need for Happy New Home cards lately & I have been searching for sentiments to match my designs. I have really enjoyed the Well Written word dies & love the size & font. While cutting my "welcome" today I noticed that I already had the "ome" & just needed an "h". Happy to the rescue! I snipped the "h" from the happy die, glued it to my "ome" & here I am - home at last

This card is for my niece, moving after 27 years & starting retirement after kids are grown & gone.

I thought that the inside sentiment was appropriate because after all - every new stage in life should be an adventure, don't you think?

The Designer Series Paper on this card is from the Bird Ballad collection & just happens to be part of the Buy 3 get 1 free promotion that Stampin' Up! is offering this month. Pick any 3 packages of DSP & get a 4th free! Split it with a friend & you'll get to enjoy dozens of beautiful papers all coordinated to Stampin' Up!'s fabulous rainbow of colours.

Although the dies are now retired they were a steal from the Clearance Rack - another great source of quality products - discounted. I guess the moral of this story is - buy wisely & use your stamps & dies to the max. Try to find imaginative ways to mix & match your sentiments & images. Use the Shop Now button to browse my online store. The catalogues are available there to view but contact me if you are in Canada & would like a copy.

Golden Magnolias

I absolutely love weddings. I laugh, I cry, I dance (& sometimes sing). I enjoy it all & love every moment of the happy celebrations. This Fall we are invited to three weddings after a long drought, & we couldn't be happier. At this stage in my life there are more anniversaries than weddings so this card will serve me well for both!

I CASed (copied & shared everything) from Janet Wakeland who used this "golden" technique with the new Delicata Golden Glitz ink to coat the inside of the Magnolia 3D Embossing Folder. Once the creamy Very Vanilla cardstock is embossed in the folder, the ink transfers to the cardstock creating this spectacular image. So simple yet so elegant. A sentiment heat embossed on vellum adds the finishing touch to this beauty. By matting the image on gold foil cardstock this card oozes class - so fitting for a wedding or golden anniversary.

These new Delicata metallic inks are in the new Holiday Catalogue that went live September 4. Hit the Shop Now button to get to my online store . Download the catty or contact me if you would like me to send you a copy.

There are still a few spots in my "Tour of the Holiday Catty" class on Thursday September 19 from 7-9 pm. We will be playing with lots of new products from the new Holiday catalogue & you'll go home with four beautiful cards Contact me to hold your spot.
